How to choose adapters for electric vehicles exactly?

In this era of rapid development of electric vehicles, I believe many people still lack sufficient knowledge about EV charging ports.
Today I’d like to share our experience and insights gained during the development of charging adapters. Feel free to leave a comment if you find anything incorrect.

So how exactly should car owners choose the right charging gun for themselves?

First and foremost, the most crucial step is to confirm the charging port compatible with your vehicle. However, charging port standards vary by region as shown in the picture below.

So what is the difference between AC and DC charging ports?

AC refers to adapters or charging guns that use alternating current, which usually only support 16A and 32A current. It is household slow charging. Although it charges slowly, it causes minimal wear on EV batteries. Car owners who mainly use slow charging can effectively extend their vehicle battery service life.

DC stands for direct current charging adapters and charging guns, which support high-current fast charging. Common public fast charging types include CCS and CHAdeMO DC charging guns and adapters. Its advantage is fast charging speed that saves waiting time, while the disadvantage is greater battery loss.

DC charging guns and adapters are ideal for people with limited time. For those who have plenty of time and want to better maintain their vehicles, AC slow charging equipment is the perfect choice.

Another key point is to choose certified charging adapters. Everyone is familiar with CE and EMC certifications for the European market. They must be equipped with over-current, over-voltage, overheating and leakage protection functions. If you are in North America, make sure to pick products with UL certification.
